The shopping process for baby skin care products is most important in starting off your baby on a healthy path. This is where knowledge on what exactly to get, and what to avoid, is necessary.
With so many brands promising “amazing” result, it is a chore to sift within them and make a right choice. Your baby’s skin is a very delicate matter, and this is why, in early months, as the baby’s immune system develops, taking in elements from the atmosphere, it is necessary that the products used are majorly organic and nature derived products. This way, irritation and inflammation of your baby’s skin is avoided and at most greatly reduced.
WHAT TO AVOID:
In the early months of your baby’s life, it is most crucial to shop only products that are dye and fragrance free.
Avoid any product which lists Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) among its ingredient. SLS is a harsh synthetic chemical commonly found in shampoos, conditioners, body creams, and even baby soaps. It is a known irritant, and it is proven to be harsh on your baby’s skin.
Ingredients like polyethylene and polyethylene glycol are harmful toxic substances popularly present in baby products.
Essential oils must be avoided on your newborn, because studies have suggested that the addition of essential oils to products can disrupt the hormonal balance of children. (Fergie, 2010)

CLEANSER: SOAPS

Only children with skin problems such as eczema or similar skin diseases may require medicated soaps. Be aware that the more often you bathe your baby, and the longer bath time lasts, the greater chance of your baby developing a dry skin.
